Half the furniture in a modern home won’t leave the room it’s in without coming apart first. Bed frames, sectionals, dining tables, desks and most flat-pack pieces were built in place, and getting them through a doorway, down a rowhome staircase or into an elevator means taking them apart and putting them back together correctly. Better Choice Moving handles furniture assembly and disassembly every day, either as part of your move or as a standalone service. Call 215-622-8140.

Furniture assembly from Better Choice Moving working a home move

Included with every move

On a standard residential move, furniture assembly is included, and our crews take apart and reassemble the usual pieces as a normal part of the job:

  • Bed frames, headboards and footboards
  • Dining tables with removable legs or leaves
  • Desks and computer tables
  • Sectional sofas that unlatch into sections
  • Shelving units and bookcases, especially ones that need to come apart to travel safely

Hardware goes into labeled bags that travel with the furniture, so nothing goes missing between houses. Beds are back together before we leave, so you can sleep in them the first night.

Specialty and larger pieces

However, some pieces take more time or planning. Tell us about them during your estimate:

  • Cribs and kids’ furniture, including bunk beds and loft beds
  • Armoires, wall units and entertainment centers that come apart into sections
  • Large flat-pack furniture, including wardrobes and storage systems
  • Home gym equipment that has to come apart to move. Very heavy gear may also need our oversized-item crew
  • Office furniture, including desks, workstations and conference tables during a commercial move

New furniture assembly

Bought new furniture and don’t want to spend your weekend with an Allen key? We can assemble new flat-pack and boxed furniture, especially when you’re already moving and want the new pieces set up in your new home. Interior designers and stagers can also book furniture assembly as part of our designer RWI service, which includes receiving, warehousing and white-glove install.

Why disassembly matters

Tight spaces are especially common in our area. For example, think of rowhomes in Norristown, Bristol and center-city Allentown, the narrow staircases in Central Bucks farmhouses and Main Line stone homes, and third-floor walk-ups in West Chester. Forcing a piece through a space it doesn’t fit usually damages the furniture, the walls and the door frames. Instead, taking it apart properly, padding each part and rebuilding it at the other end protects all three. It’s part of our guarantee: Zero stress, zero damage to your home or possessions with trained movers, and zero hidden pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Is furniture disassembly included in my move?

Taking apart and putting back together standard pieces like beds, tables and desks is part of a normal move with us. However, let us know about specialty or oversized pieces during your estimate.

Can you assemble new furniture that isn’t part of a move?

Yes. Call 215-622-8140 and tell us what you bought, how many pieces there are and where they’re going, and we’ll let you know how we can help.

Do you assemble cribs and bunk beds?

Yes. We take apart and reassemble cribs, bunk beds and loft beds, and then we check that they’re put back together securely.

What happens to the screws and hardware?

Hardware is bagged, labeled and kept with its piece of furniture, so everything goes back together correctly at your new home.

Can you take apart furniture that won’t fit through my door?

Usually, yes. If a piece was built to come apart, we’ll disassemble it to get through tight doorways and stairwells and reassemble it on the other side.
