Senior Moving and Downsizing, Done with Patience
Patient senior moving and downsizing help in Bucks, Montgomery, Chester and Lehigh counties. Packing, placement, donation and cleanouts.
Moving a parent out of the home they’ve lived in for decades is rarely just a move. It’s sorting a lifetime of belongings, making hard decisions about what fits in a smaller space, and coordinating family members who may live hours away. Better Choice Moving’s senior moving service is built for that. So our crews slow down, explain each step and treat your parent’s belongings the way we’d treat our own family’s. Call 215-622-8140 to talk it through.

How our senior moving service helps
Planning the move together. Ashley, who handles our on-site estimates, will meet with your parent and family in person (or we can meet by video) to understand where they’re going and what’s coming along. Then we’ll talk about the new floor plan, what furniture will fit, and what needs to happen to the rest.
Packing at a comfortable pace. Our packing team can pack the whole house, or only the fragile and sentimental pieces if that’s what your family prefers. We label boxes clearly so unpacking is easy, and we never rush.
Moving day. Floors and doorways are protected, every piece of furniture is wrapped and padded, and our uniformed crew explains what’s happening as they go. At the new home, we set up furniture and reassemble the bed so it’s ready the first night.
Setting up the new space. We place furniture where it fits the new room and the way your parent lives. Familiar pieces in familiar spots make a new place feel like home faster, especially in a smaller space.
Clearing what stays behind. What isn’t making the move can be donated, passed to family or hauled away through our junk removal service, so the house is ready to list.
Moves we handle
- From the family home into an independent living apartment, assisted living or memory care
- Into a continuing-care retirement community, like the many across Montgomery, Bucks and Chester counties
- Into a smaller single-story home, condo or 55+ community
- Into a family member’s home, including moving into an in-law suite
- Long-distance moves to be closer to children or grandchildren. See long-distance moving
When timing is complicated
Senior moves often depend on things outside the family’s control: a community apartment opening up, a house sale closing, a health change. If the new place isn’t ready, or the house has to be emptied before the move-in date, our move-and-store service holds belongings in vault storage at our Quakertown warehouse until it’s time.
Working with families from a distance
Many adult children helping a parent move don’t live nearby. If that’s you, we can do the estimate by video, keep you updated by phone or text, and coordinate directly with the senior community’s move-in staff. One point of contact keeps everyone on the same page.

Frequently asked questions
Can you coordinate with the senior living community?
Yes. We’ll also work with the community’s move-in coordinator on elevator times, loading areas and any insurance paperwork they require.
Can you help decide what fits in the new space?
We’ll look at the new floor plan with you and help work out which furniture will fit. However, the decisions about what to keep are always your family’s.
What happens to the things my parent isn’t taking?
Items can go to family, be donated, or be hauled away through our junk removal service. We can schedule removal right after the move so the house is ready to sell.
Can my family schedule the move if we live out of state?
Yes. We can do the estimate by video, coordinate by phone and email, and then work directly with whoever will be at the house on moving day.
Do you move into memory care?
Yes. We understand these moves need extra care and a calm pace, so we work with families and staff to make the transition as gentle as possible.
